Algo Antiguo is made from plaster, paints, and coffee to achieve its pigmentation. The use of organic textures against parallel lines excites a sense of touch and tangibility. This response is intentional and is made to help a viewer have an awareness of the present moment. Algo Antiguo meaning, something old, is a reminder to seek intentional gratitude for these moments, for the things that make us feel whole, things that we already have. The use of parallel lines is intentional, as it serves as a reminder to recollect ourselves. The works in this collection aim to have the artist's hand and creative process transparent to the viewer, helping one understand how the work was created.
This work is a part of the Monica Curiel x Shop Jitana Collection.
