This work represents the many Mexicans, who have died at the Texas-Mexico border, in hopes of providing themselves a better life. White crosses are a prevalent symbol of an individual’s death in Mexico. I want this work to offer an outward sign of peace, a symbol of immigrant freedom. As I see children separated from their families at the border and humans trapped in cages, this is the only way I can say, "I honor you, I see you, and there still is opportunity here in America".
