Originally conceived as a set of two, Dos Piezas is offered here as a grouping of four organic-formed plaster wall sculptures—two complete sets presented together as a single work. These forms reflect Curiel’s early education in grouting techniques—skills she developed while assisting her father on construction sites. The materials, often associated with labor and utility, carry deep cultural weight—frequently handled by immigrant workers like her parents, yet rarely recognized in artistic contexts.

Through these sculptural forms, Curiel honors the unseen hands behind everyday structures, bringing the textures of labor into spaces of reverence and beauty. Dos Piezas transforms humble construction materials into poetic tributes to work, memory, and heritage.
