Dos Caras is a sculptural piece that honors Curiel’s Mexican heritage. It features accents inspired by billowing forms and rocks, drawing from Curiel’s childhood memories of bathing in the river at her grandmother’s house in Mexico. The name, Spanish for “two faces,” reflects the work’s dual-sided base, each side presenting a distinct arrangement of forms. Designed as both an art object and a functional vessel, it can hold a candle or a single flower stem, or stand on its own as a contemplative form.
