Love Letters To My Mexican Heritage
Fiber artist and ceramist Nicole McLaughlin and sculptor Monica Curiel came together in 2021 to create a collaborative series grounded in their shared cultural lineage. Conceived as an exploration of identity, ancestry, and the dualities within Mexican cultural practices, the collection examines femininity, masculinity, labor, and cultural memory through material experimentation. Using Tencel, natural indigo dye, and construction materials, the works draw from ancestral processes and reflect their intertwined identities and personal histories.
