Vase No. 1 features a surface gathered and ruched in delicate folds, drawing from the tactile language of garment construction and traditional fiber techniques. Translating textile gestures into plaster and industrial material, the work blurs the boundary between decorative object and sculptural form, honoring intertwined legacies of craft and labor within Curiel’s family heritage. 

This functional vessel includes a fixed PVC pipe insert for fresh florals or vegetation. To preserve the integrity of the piece, water should be added only to the PVC insert. To remove water, absorb it with a sponge or suction tool. Do not tilt the vessel or pour water out from the body of the piece. An additional waterproof liner may be used to make filling and emptying easier.
